Add an exotic touch to your favorite outdoor spaces with this exotic plant. Commonly called Tulip Ginger because it’s in the ginger family and the flowers are vaguely tulip-like, it’s a hot-weather stunner that blooms all summer long. Enjoy it in pots and planters or beds and borders (in USDA Zones 8 to 11, it’s actually a perennial that comes back every year if you plant it in the landscape!). It blooms with pink-blushed white bracts (that almost look like pinecones) that rise above the foliage small blue-purple flowers in the bracts.
Â
Despite its exotic looks, Curcuma Siam Sparkling is easy to care for. Just give it a spot with dappled shade or morning sun and afternoon shade and water before the soil dries out. While it’s somewhat drought tolerant, it will grow and bloom best if watered regularly.
Order now and our growers will hand-select your new Curcuma fresh from the farm. We’ll pack it up and deliver it direct to your door (with no stores or warehouses in between). Shipping and handling is included in the price.
- Easy-care: Just give it a partly shaded spot and water before it dries out
- Exotic, long-lasting flowers add elegance to your space
- Lush, ginger-like leaves look add to its beauty
- Grows 1 to 2 feet all and wideÂ

Curcuma Siam Carara Sparkling, PPAF
Bred by KP Holland, Curcuma Siam Carara Sparkling is a newer selection that brings faster growth and better bloom power to the Curcuma Siam series. A hybrid of Curcuma alismatifolia, its ancestors are native to areas of Thailand and Southeast Asia.
For optimal growth, enjoy it in containers or garden beds/borders in a spot with morning sun and afternoon shade or dappled shade all day. It may grow in all-day sun if you keep it moist at all times. It can grow in all-day shade, but it may not flower as much.
Water as the top half or so of the soil dries to the touch. It naturally has some drought-tolerance thanks to its fleshy rhizomes, so it can survive drying out, but it grows, looks, and blooms best if it’s kept moist. Avoid overwatering; if it stays wet or soggy, the rhizomes may rot.
As a heat-loving tropical plant, it survives heatwaves. It will also survive light frosts and can be treated as a hardy perennial in Zones 8 to 11. Note: Even in frost-free regions like South Florida, it will go dormant in the winter, but it always comes back up again in late spring/early summer when temperatures warm.
